Fibromyalgia

Dr. Maggio of the ProAdjuster Chiropractic Clinic explains the basics of Fibromyalgia.  Patients who have this condition have issues.  There issues are with with pain and tension.

Fibromyalgia is an extremely confusing disease. The main reason why it is so confusing is because there is no definitive test to determine if someone has fibromyalgia.  This is a challenge for doctors and patients.    Many other different types of health care problems have positive tests.  These can be blood work, MRI, and imaging that will determine if a person is positive or negative for a specific disease. Pain does not have any of that.   This creates an issue.   Many people are misdiagnosed and treated incorrectly. This affects the muscles around the joints of the body.  Symptoms can include muscle pain.   Fatigue, psychiatric issues and much much more can be present. Sometimes trigger points or concentrated muscle spasms can be treated with manual treatments.  Manual treatments can be chiropractic and massage. Sometimes patients will opt for other treatments.  These treatments can be Botox, narcotics, and muscle relaxers.

Treating this problem can be difficult for patients.   There are many types of  treatments that are actually painful. At the ProAdjuster Chiropractic Clinic we have two main protocols that can assist people with fibromyalgia. One of these is the remarkable computer guided ProAdjuster pulsar system. This is a fully computerized version of chiropractic care.  It allows us to analyze and treat soft tissue and muscles.  This can be done with extreme confidence and low impact. Due to the low impact of the computerized system patients get remarkable results.  There is also no massive side effects that can be caused by other sorts of treatments. The other protocol that we can utilize is called cold laser. The cold laser helps stimulate massive amounts of endorphins around the body. These hormones can help regulate pain.  This will help patients to feel better. Getting a chiropractic evaluation is extremely important for any dealing with this condition.

Chronic low back pain

Chronic low back pain can be devastating to your life. Chronic low back pain is when a person suffers from low back pain for more than 6 months. If a person suffers with chronic low back pain, it will cause serious microscopic changes to the muscles and joints. Muscle changes include histological alteration This can be scar tissue and fibrotic formation.

A recent study demonstrates that chronic pain actually made mice lazy. Chronic pain may re-wire the brain in such a way that it may decrease motivation even after an individual stops taking pain killers. People don’t like pain. Pain does serve its purpose. It helps to prevent further harm and injury. The brain actually re-wires it circuitry during chronic pain to cause people to be inactive.

So when patients are suffering with chronic low back, neck or chronic health issues like fibromyalgia not only do the pain medications that they are taking cause a negative affect on energy levels. New studies in neurobiology have demonstrated that chronic pain will lead to decreased activity.
