What causes back pain? Back Pain Relief and How Chiropractic Care Helps.

Back pain can be caused by any number of things. Perhaps someone slept wrong, or tripped and fell. Maybe they were in a car accident, or the pain seemed to just come out of nowhere! Any one of these actions, and many more, may lead to back pain. But what causes that pain? Any sort of trauma to the back and spine may result in what is called a “Pinched Nerve.” Now a pinched nerve has to be compressed up to 70% before any pain starts to show up. This means that a spot in your back may be out of place for quite sometime before any signs or symptoms show up. This is why it is important to see a medical professional when the pain first starts showing up.

How does back pain effect my health?

Back pain can range from mild and annoying to quite severe or debilitating. In the mild to annoying category, people may experience some mild muscle tension. They may also have a slight decrease in their energy levels throughout the day. If they wait too long in this stage and don’t do anything about it, it can get worse. In the severe to debilitating stages, pinched nerves can make it difficult to walk, breath, or even bend forward to tie our shoes! Pinched nerves in the neck can also result in migraine headaches, which if bad enough may cause someone to have to miss work.

What can I do at home? Back Pain Relief and How Chiropractic Care Helps.

There are several things you can do at home to help relieve some of the pain and tension from pinched nerves. Heat packs are great for really tight muscles. Ice packs are wonderful for helping reduce pain and inflammation. Stretching is also a great go-to, so long as you aren’t going into any additional pain while performing them. If these aren’t helping, then its probably a good time to set up an appointment with your local chiropractor!

When should it start feeling better?

Unfortunately, there is no straight forward answer here. Some patients may start feeling better right away! For other patients it may take several months before they are feeling like themselves again. It mostly depends upon how badly the nerves are being pinched, and how well the patients follow their at home care recommendations. With most people, they tend to see pretty good results within the first month of treatment.

Back pain and how Chiropractic care can help!

Chiropractors are an excellent place to start at when you are suffering from back pain. They are able to help without the use of any drugs, shots, or surgeries! They spend years learning how to get stuck bones in the spine moving properly again. This is referred to as an adjustment. The adjustment helps relieve pressure on the nerves. This generally leads to less pain, better range of motion, and improved quality of life. If you suffer from back pain, give us a call so you can see how we can help you today! (757)473-9900
