Foot Problems
Foot problems can often can cause major issues with your spine. Find out how this can occur and what you can do to prevent foot problems. Dr. James Maggio of the ProAdjuster Chiropractic Clinic of Virginia Beach can help.
When it comes to dealing with someone’s spine one of the things that can affect it is your feet. Feet problems cause biomechanical issues that go all the way up to your knees, hips, and low back. If a person has a problem with their low back almost always it will lead to a problem in their shoulders and neck.
What should you watch to see how your feet are doing? One thing you can do is check to see how you WEAR OUT YOUR SHOES. When you wear out your shoes and you look at the bottom of them they should be equal wear on the right and left shoe. Also when you look to see how your shoes wear the amount of wear and tear should be straight across on the bottom. If you have more wear on the inside or the outside of your shoe it is simple your feet are not balanced. What can you do about that?
Well before we look into that you also need to look at the way you stand and walk. If you walk with your feet flared out it is a tell tale sign of feet problems. This will cause a dramatic change in your low back and hips. We want to avoid that at all costs.
Spinal stabilizing orthotics are a wonderful protocol to help a person balance their feet deficiencies. These products are made specifically for a person who has a foot problem that is affecting their spine. These are totally different than the orthotics that a podiatrist may make you at their office. Orthotics that are made at a podiatrist office are generally for feet problems. There are many companies specifically one of them called Foot Levelers that make orthotics that are totally custom for patients. This custom orthotics will allow support that will greatly enhance the way a person stands and walks. When that happens spinal problems are decreased.

Are shoes hurting your back?
Are your shoes hurting your back? There are many questions patients can ask about their low back pain. Are your shoes hurting your back? is one I frequently will ask them.
Treating patients with lower back problems can be difficult at times especially since there are so many factors that can be a role on how fast their care accelerates to their optimum results.
One of the things that can be challenging is when patients wear incorrect shoes. The problem is when they wear shoes for too long. In other words, they are wearing shoes that are completely worn out. If you would walk by your vehicle and see a tire totally worn out you would probably assume it is time to change it.
However, sometimes people get into the rut of having their favorite pair of shoes when they do that they will wear it out which can affect the pelvic tilt which will in turn cause lower back muscles to fire incorrectly and can cause lower back pain. One of the things you can do to prevent lower back pain is to make sure your shoes are not worn.
Also the types of shoes should be altered on a daily basis. People should alter their types of shoes changing from tennis shoes to dress shoe to heals to flats. This will make repetitive stresses on the foot muscles much less
