Tennis elbow and proper treatment

Tennis elbow can effect people who play tennis , racquetball, other sports, or activities that utilize the forearm muscles.

Tennis elbow is a condition where the person has pain in the elbow. It is usually caused from over exertion that is why it is commonly called tennis elbow. The proper term for this condition is lateral epicondylitis. Which means swelling of the elbow. People who are in construction, playing musical instruments and computer work are very prone to get this because it can aggravate the joint of the elbow and produce inflammation.

One of the things chiropractic can do for lateral epicondylitis or tennis elbow is to remove the inflammation.  This can be done via physical therapy and also help restore normal motion to the joints of the elbow to prevent further inflammation. Since the elbow joint is not that flexible of a joint treatment for lateral epicondylitis is usually very simple and usually responds very well to chiropractic care.  Other forms of care that help are massage , and physical therapy

 

For serious players there are a wide varity of braces and supports that can be used while playing, and after sessions.  Applying heat prior to playing and ice following sessions can also be helpful.
