There are not a lot of options to control pain that are safe to use during pregnancy. That is why chiropractic care while you are pregnant can be quite beneficial.

Hey everyone. Amby here from the Pro-Adjuster chiropractic clinic. Today I want to talk to you about pregnancy. Pregnancy is beautiful and it is a miracle. It is also extremely uncomfortable, both for the pregnant women and the people around her. Pregnant women deal with so many different pains, one of the major pains they have is back pain and/or sciatica.

So how can Dr. Maggio help pregnant women with back pain? One of the common things that happens when you are pregnant is sciatica. Sciatica is when the never gets pinched and the pain runs down the back of the leg, sometimes it goes down the front the leg as well depending upon the nerved involved.  A few adjustments can really help reduce the pain you feel. As far as I know there is really not a whole else they can do when you are pregnant to reduce the symptoms other than realigning your spine.

I have had three children and with all of them I had sciatic pain. It can be hard to sleep, walk and uncomfortable to do anything. I know for me personally when I had sciatica pain when I was pregnant, I would go to my OBGYN and their view was sorry, you will just have to deal with the pain. My doctor recommend messages, sleeping with a pillow between my knees, but nothing helped me. After a few treatments with Dr. Maggio my pain was gone and it did not return for the remainder of my pregnancy. We have had other patients here at the clinic that have had the same experience. It makes your day so much easier when you can do what you want to without pain. Pregnancy is stressful, both mentally and physically. It is nice to know that there are treatments that help you feel better, so you can enjoy your pregnancy.

Chiropractic during pregnancy

A recent publication demonstrated Chiropractic during pregnancy is beneficial. I have treated pregnant women for over 20 years. The results are remarkable. Studies have demonstrated a 33% decrease in labor time for women who receive Chiropractic during pregnancy. Sciatic issues also respond well. Leg pain and back pain that accompany pregnancy often resolve while women are under chiropractic care. Manny obgyns are excited to refer their patients to chiropractic.

Pregnancy problems improved

The majority of women with sacroiliac joint pain report both pregnancy-related discomfort and postpartum complaints.

Researcher Mitz notes that many pregnant women commonly develop mid- to low-back pain. The can also develope pelvic pain, as well as pain in the hips and feet. Doctors must pay attention to the pelvis and sacroiliac joint. Research shows that “There’s an intimate relationship between the pelvic muscles, ligaments, uterus, and sacrum. If they are all working symbiotically well, the woman will often have a good delivery.”

Many women are turning to treatment that combines massage and chiropractic. This can help prepare the body for childbirth.

Massage can work side-by-side with chiropractic to address the overall health of their pregnant patients. Many women receive a combination of multiple therapies while pregnant. Light traction, massage, stretching and exercise are all beneficial for pregnant women. Patient can a massage therapist on the day they receive chiropractic care. Sometimes women respond better altering their chiropractic and massage on different days.

At our office almost all women respond extremely well to the computerized ProAdjuster system. It is a very gentle and accurate way to measure spinal problems. The instrument actually makes the adjustments with gentle tapping. The tapping continues until the computer reads that the spine is looser and relaxed.

This is exciting news for women who are pregnant. Chiropractic during pregnancy often works wonders.
